Michael Essien to participate in charity game

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien will be involved in a charity game organized by former Cameroon and Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o.


The match will be held on the 16th of July in Ankara Turkey and will feature many other international football players.

Besides Michael Essien, there will be many star players that will feature in the match namely Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Neymar, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and many others. There will also be different coaches such as Jose Mourinho and Fabio Capello that will be present at the charity game.

There were fears at some point that the match might be canceled especially with Turkey the center of terrorist attack. However, former Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o has stated that the game will be going as plan as he has received confirmation from the Turkish authorities that there will be appropriate measures taken to protect the players and fans.

This is the tenth edition of this annual charity that will be organized by Samuel Eto'o, and it will be the first one that will be held in Turkey. This will be an occasion for the country as well to show that they have recovered from the recent terror attacks and that they can still organize a sporting event.

The charity game will help to raise fund to provide health care facilities and other social services to people that are in need in different countries.

Michael Essien has been released by Panathinaikos and may be heading to China.

Indeed, it is believed that some Chinese clubs are looking to sign the former Ghana international and are prepared to pay Essien a big salary. So far, there is no concrete offer that has been made, but there are reports that the deal might be finalized later during this month.
