Essien starts life as pundit

Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has made his first appearance as a TV pundit in Saudi Arabia.

He joins a long list of former footballers who are making money by working as a pundit. His first match has been for the game opposing Al Ahli and Al Hilal for the Saudi Super Cup. He joined a panel form of other former footballers and current coach and provided his insights on the game.

Michael Essien is currently without a club after leaving Panathinaikos in the summer. It is believed that the player is considering moving to China where there are several clubs that are interested in his service. However, the player will favor a move to a European club as he believes that he still can play at the highest level.

Alternatively, he might make a career in the world of TV pundits just as many other footballers. With the continuous development of football around the world, there is a big demand for TV pundits around the world. It is believed that there are other channels that are interested in signing Michael Essien as a pundit for them. Al Jazeera Sports is another local channel that might be interested in signing the former player as a pundit. They are currently employing Marcel Desailly and George Weah and would want to enlarge their team further.

It is believed that other channels in South Africa such as SuperSports and in the UK (BT Sport and SkySports) might also be interested in employing the former Ghanaian international.

However, the player has not stated whether he is looking to make a career as a pundit or it was only a one-off thing. He had yet to make a decision about his future and said that he is still analyzing the different offers that he has received.
